"Hi to all. I live in southern Saskatchewan and hobby grow about 250 roses, many of which are of the tender variety just to make life interesting.
I found your web site of extremely high quality, very informative (especially regarding pests and diseases) and one of the best that I have seen. Congratulations to your club and all those who have contributed to it." Gene Froc, July 10, 2006

"Great website. I'm a small time rose gardner but I have a daughter in Maine and love to visit." Ellie Kruszewski, May 8, 2006

"Yor web site is beautiful and I am glad to know that there is a Maine Rose Society. I don't know quite how I could become involved, but I would like to." Charlotte Maurer, April 16, 2006

"Great website. Lots of information and wonderful pictures. Something for everyone" Teresa Mosher, March 20, 2006

"Hello, my name is Bill Kozemchak, president of the Philadelphia Rose Society. While looking at your beautiful web site I noticed a link to us. This link is going to be deactivated. We have a new site http://philadelphiarosesociety.org/ . We would appreciate if you could change the link to the new site. York Area Rose Society also has a new link, http://www.yorkarearosesociety.com/ . They will be hosting the Mini Nationals in July. Pittsburgh's link didn't go through. http://www.angelfire.com/pa5/pittsburghrs/ is not up to date, but it does have contact numbers for people trying to get in touch with someone there. Again great job on your site. Tell Clarence we said hi, he comes down to visit us every year." Bill Kozemchak, president of the Philadelphia Rose Society, December 6, 2005

"Fabulous website - truly enjoyed browsing thru. Thank you to Clarence Rhodes and his information on roses in pots with soiless medium. I am going to try that as my roses never seem to achieve their size where they're planted - perhaps they'll do better in containers.
" Peg Rudolph, June 21, 2005

"Hi, I visited your lovely web site recently and found the link to the Fraser Pacific Rose Society does not work. The url for the site is http://www.fprosesociety.org. All the best,

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I can't express to you enough how grateful I am for all the information on your website. Switching from greenhouse growing to outdoors with every insect and critter known to be a problem to roses, I certainly appreciate all the information I can get from those living in a similar climate. I have not yet found a more helpful website. Many, many thanks. I am sending in a membership application." W R White, March 2, 2005

"Your web site is lovely! I'm the past President of the Santa Barbara Rose Society. My daughter will be going to Colby College in the fall so I wondered if Maine had a rose society, and here you are. We have a web site, too: www.sbrose.org Suggestion: How about a photo of your President on the President's page? Cheers!" Susan Scott, March 2, 2005

"I came across your site while doing some research and think that it's a
great organization. I like the quote you have from William L. Homan on your site! Congratulations on your work!" Kent Swanson, Thursday, February 3, 2005

"You have a fine web site-broad and deep with good links. I'm moving to Portland this May or June and would like to become active. I love antique roses having had over 400 pre-1841 roses in a reproduction Federal-style garden. I'll send you some articles that I've written on antique roses as well as 19th century pesticides that I've tried (Nicotiniana sprays) along with an application for membership." Gary A O Neil, Monday, January 31, 2005

"Thank you so much for your beautiful & wonderful website. I just stumbled onto it this morning. I am snowed in on this winter day and was surfing the net. I am the new president of the Kitsap County Rose Society here in Washington State. Best wishes! Rosily yours, Randy

" I visited your society’s web site and what a
beautiful one it is!! It is both very nicely designed and easy to
maneuver about in. Information is a key factor with web sites and yours
either has the information or where to go to get it. The members who
take care of it should be very proud of their work." Peggy-Anne, April
8, 2004

"This is my third visit to your site. You are doing a
wonderful job up there. We just bought 20 roses from our club (LCRS)
and are anxious to get them in the ground but it is still frozen about
4 inches down. I imagine you folks still have snow. Best wishes for a
floriferous season." Laurel Swanson, March 27, 2004

"I have just visited your website. Wow!" D. Angell,
March 22, 2004

"I always enjoy visiting....one thing leads to
another!" William Oz Osborn , March 21, 2004

"I am glad to find you. Saw your booth at the Flower
Garden Show in Scarbourough. I've been growing roses for about 5 years.
I have 4 Henry Kelseys, 27 Chuckles, 2 Rosa Rubrifolia, 4 The Fairy and
1 Prairie Princess. I had 4 Sir Thomas Liptons but their white flowers
and scent were so attractive to Japanese Beetles, that most days they
appeared to have black flowers. I did not get even one flower without
beetle damage. The Fairy and Rubrifolia are the least beetle prone."
Margaret Kleinrock, March 7, 2004

"Beautiful and easy to navigate website. I found a
lot to learn and enjoy among your pages. Congratulations - I learned
from John Mattia that the MRS website won one of the top ARS website
awards last year. That is a terrific accomplishment. Good luck and keep
up the great work. See you at the Yankee Convention in March.
" Marilyn Wellan, American Rose Society President, February 29, 2004

"I was looking at a number of articles on Rose Rugosa
and like a few of
the posters to your website
(http://www.mainerosesociety.com/faqs/oct142001.html). One question
plagues me: How do I grow
these beautiful plants from the hips. A friend on MDI gave me a bag
full when I was up there last week. " Tom Visentin, August 22, 2003
"I viewed your members rose gardens at Mation Stevens
suggestion. A
very nice idea and web site." June Benardella, August 15, 2003
"Excellent website. Be sure to enter it in the ARS
competition. For a small society, it's a super job.
" John Mattia, August 15, 2003
"Just visited the website after a long absense and

you on the Rose Pests and Diseases page. It's very extensive and a
wonderful resource.
" Heidi Sipe, July 28, 2003
"I love your Web Site. At the moment we do not have

"I like your site." Sandy Copeland, June 27, 2003
"Beautiful website - a real WINNER! Congratulations
on winning King of Local Society Websites for '02.
I had read somewhere that Margaret Chase Smith always wore a
rose to the
House and Senate, and advocated the rose as our national flower long
before
it actually happened in 1986. I didn't know she was from Maine. Thanks.
All the best!
" Marilyn Wellan, June 24, 2003
"Interisting site. We do get to Maine and hopefully I
can stop sometime.
" Linda hendrick, May 31, 2003
"Many thanks! It (Discussion Forum) was very useful,
have found what we want." Nick Chudley, May 29, 2003
"I am so happy to find your web site-I recently
purchased a house last
Oct. to be precise in Auburn with a number of Roses. Some of them are
climbing and some seem to be rambling ?(they have canes that go
underground and then send up shoots?) still others are plants that have
about 20 canes in close proximity. I am a first time gardener to all
perrenials and terrified to ruin this rose garden (which I haven't even
seen yet). There were many canes that didn't winter well and I have
been trying to prune every chance I get. Can I prune too aggressively?
One of the climbers took quite a haircut. Also, it is taking me a long
time-when is it too late to prune, some of the buds are getting
big-thanks, can't wait to become a member!" Tricia Davidson, May 8, 2003
"Your website is not only informative, it is chock
full of great
information for those who want to grow roses in your zone. Also, thanks
to for your link to the Milwaukee Rose Society. I would also like to
provide a link to your society if you would permit me to do so. Thanks
again for sharing your exciting website with rose lovers all over the
world!
" Jan Staedler, May 6, 2003
"Congratulations on winning ARS Local Website King!
I'm posting the web
winners on our district website."
"I found a rose society link that is no longer valid. The
link for Pacific Rose Society on your links page is incorrect. the
proper link should be:
http://www.geocities.com/pacificrs/ thanks," Glenn Fiery
PSWD webmaster

"Congratulations! The Maine Rose Society has won 2002
King of Local Websites. Here is the 2002 icon (in two sizes) which
can be placed on your site.

that the many visitors to your website greatly enjoy the information
you provide. In the rose," Jolene Adams, ARS E.Rose Committee, April
22, 2003
"This is my second year with my florabunda rose
bushes
and I’m hoping to gain some knowledge through the society. From what
I’ve seen on the website, it’s a very close knit group that truly cares
about the preservation and shared knowledge of all kinds of roses. I
look forward to becoming involved...even from a distance. Thanks for
creating such a good website and giving us novices a place to go and
gain some insight into the beautiful world of roses!!
" Heidi Sipe, April 1, 2003
"
The Society's web sight is excellent. I just went through Claire's
pictures. What a nice idea. Keep up the good work. Wish I could have
continued my membership but the day and time of the meetings make it
impossible for me to attend." Meredith Dalessandro, March 29, 2003
"
Sari, The link to The Mountain State Rose Society on your web site has
been discontinued. The New url

on growning in Maine. Thank you." Mathew Whittemore, March 27, 2003
"Thank you for introducing me to this web site (in
the
Portland Flower Show). I am eager to learn all I can about roses. I
have always been fascinated and awed by their beauty and fragrance. I
see there are many out there that are just as inspired. Thanks again!
"kcarey, Tuesday, March 11, 2003
"Members: Are you tired of the long cold winter we
are
having? Do you have an hour or so to relax and spend on dreaming of
spring? I just remembered why I love roses so much. The last couple of
hours I have just spent going all through our web site again, and
visiting all our members gardens. Roses really are beautiful. What got
me started was hunting for Sari's mailing address. However, I soon
forgot what I was about and just enjoyed our web site. Sari does an
excellent job on our web site. Thanks Sari. " Doverfox, Feb. 25, 2003
"The MRS web site is outstanding! It gave us
the feeling that we had attended the meetings in person." turtl-3, Thu,

"Your site is beautiful. I just love clicking on the
garden gate to enter from your home page. The site is organized very
nicely and the graphics are very pretty. Although I am from Mass. I can
go away for the weekend,in the summer and visit your Rose Shows
"--RoseceliaD, Tuesday, March 26, 2002
"Excellent job with the
report. I have directed several of my rose friends to it. Thanks!
"--JPMATTIA, Thu, 14 Mar 2002
"I
took a close look at your website. I like the format, the contents, the
information etc. It looks great. I would not say that if I do not mean
it. I have a suggestion for you? Why don't you include the photographs
of roses that do well in Portland and also more photos of member
gardens if you have?"--tmlakshmi, Sat, 09 Mar 2002
"Thank
you for your suggestion. The Maine Rose Society site does have lots of
great information. Many of the rose suppliers also have good sites. The
problem seems to be too many choices. I suppose that I was trying to
short-cut the research process, but the more that I learn, the more fun
the learning seems to become. Regards"-- marshall, Mon, 04 Mar 2002
"Great web site!"--D Stevens, Friday, March 1, 2002
"Dear
Sari, Grace sent me your email address saying thet you are in charge of

you would mind me adding your URL to my site and possibly you doing the
same ??? Please advise...Thanks."--Veldfire, Mon, 21 Jan 2002
"SMTC's
Plant & Soil Dept. sponsors a "Distinguished Speakers Series" each
winter. On Wednesday, Jan. 23 Stephen Scanniello, the former rosarian
at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden will speak at the Jewett Auditorium on
the SMTC campus from 5-6:30 p.m. I would like to advertise this lecture
the the rose society and could email the description of the talk to
everyone who wishes. Thanks."--P Stack, Thursday, January 17, 2002
"I work for one of the Conservation Districts. We get
info from other
agencies and some nonprofits about upcoming "growing things" events. As
they come through I will notify you. You must decide what would be
appropriate, or perhaps we can just experiment. Actually, I'm not a
rose grower, but like them and everything else in the garden world.
Thanks for your thoughtful words! You really are doing a superb job
with this web site."-- Phoebeh, Tue, 23 Oct 2001
"Thanks
for the tips on their common name, and about the beetles too. Your
organization is quite amazing. Within 24 hours of my post, I received 5
e-mails from rose enthusiasts. Thanks again! "--addicus, Tue, 16 Oct
