Do you know anything about the "Starry Night Rose"? I live in north-central Missouri & was contemplating on planting an arbor garden that overlooks our pond. I have a 9' arbor that is supported by 4X4 posts set in concrete with "Sweet Autumn Clematis" growing on wagon wheels connected to the 4X4 posts. I have a love for white, mixed with other colors of course, & wondered how long the blooming season was for the Starry Night Rose & when the season started and stopped. I have a catalog that says it gets 3' in southern regions and 6'in milder climates. I really don't consider where we live as a mild climate in July & August, but really hoped it wouldn't get as tall as 6' either. Can or should you prune this type of rose? Any other info you can give me would be much appreciated.

Eve,

I do grow the Starry Night Rose but expect that my experience with it in Maine is not relevant to what you will experience in Missouri. I am copying a url that will take you to Missouri Rosarian who can most likely give you better advice and perhaps visit. The url is http://www.ars.org/Crs/dist-central.htm. A second url for cyber consulting Rosarians in Missouri is http://www.ars.org/Crs/cr_by_area.htm.

Hope that this helps.
