Garden Tour: Tanya Haskett has proposed a garden tour to
raise funds for the MRS. VAUGHN
HARDESTY MADE A MOTION TO HOLD GARDEN TOURS TO RAISE MONEY FOR MRS AND TO
APPOINT TANYA HASKETT AS CHAIR OF THE GARDEN TOURS. STEVE LAW SECONDED THE MOTION.
VOTE, PASSED UNANIMOUS. 3.
2001 MRS Rose
Show - Historically, the Rose Show has been held on the last Sunday in
July, this year July 24. The
Connecticut Show falls on that same day.
After discussion on availability of judges, best blooming period of
Maine roses, etc., finding another date was discussed. STEVE LAW MADE A MOTION TO HOLD THE 2001
ROSE SHOW ON SUNDAY, JULY 1. SECONDED
BY VAUGHN HARDESTY. VOTE, 5-2. PASSED. There was a discussion on finding a location with adequate parking to attract more public participation. - Frank O’Connor will investigate alternate locations. It was agreed that if another location cannot be found for this year, that the Barron Center provides an adequate size room, tables, chairs and will be used. Frank O’Connor will be Chair of the Rose Show. Clarence Rhodes is the Judges Selection Committee. Frank O’Connor, Steve Law and Ralph Carpenter will provide a Show Schedule and have it printed by April 25. Ralph Carpenter will take care of advertising. Claire Homan and Margaret Edwards will take care of trophies. It was mentioned that last year, Lilyan Brower , Sarah Williams and Meredith Delasandro had good ideas on streamlining the tallying of award winners. Staging will be handled by Frank O’Connor, Ralph Carpenter and Larry McMahon. Frank volunteered his wife, Merelyn of the Natural Grocer in Gorham, as the Hospitality Chair.
