Laurie Lane, October 2, 2005 How far apart should I plant my three shrub roses? They are all David Austin varieties. Thanks! |
| 10/3/05 Heather David Austin likes to plant his roses, of the same variety, in groups of three as a triangle so that they fill out like one large bush. If you have different varieties then you plant them separately. Normally, you look up the mature size of the plant and Austin roses are of different sizes and grown to different sizes in different climates. A California Austin Rose may reach the second story of a building whereas the same plant in Maine may be two feet high. You did not say where you lived or what roses you had! David Austin's webpage does give some advice about planting. See http://www.davidaustinroses.com/american/ for specifics. Other pages of this website give more information. Hope this helps.
