Carole Martin, May 31, 2005 Help! I am not a gardener, but my best friend is ardent about her roses! We live in Rockland, Maine, and she loves fragrant, large blooms, and has a wonderful garden. Her birthday is this week, and I'd love to give her a gift certificate to a place that would have rose bushes that would survive the midcoast Maine winters. Can you help me locate a place? I tried to sort through the links you list on your website, but I'm too unfamiliar with rose varieties to determine which mail order place or garden store would have what she'd like. Thanks a lot if you can help! Carole Martin |
| 6/2/05 There are many roses that will survive winter in Maine and many choices of type - climbers, shrubs, etc. I will recomend Morden Blush (srub) pink, John Cabot (red) climber, Lilian Gibson (pink once bloomer, large shrub or climber), Knockout (shrub) red single petal, and so on. You can ask nursery people for Explorer series roses or Morden roses since most are hardy.

| 6/3/05 Plants Alive in Cmaden & The Green Thumb in Rockland, both on Rte 1 are good places.
